LEFT-BEHIND DAD: A FATHER'S SEARCH FOR HIS MISSING CHILDREN
This is the working title of a book I've been working on for many years. It is now ready to be submitted to a literary agent and / or to publishers.
The submission process is the part of the process of getting a book to market that's not so much fun. It opens the author to rejection and nobody likes being rejected. However, I believe 100% in the importance of this story. It's about a father with sole guardianship and custody of two small daughters whose mother - the man's ex-wife - abducted them to an unknown location, and what he went through to discover that location and bring the girls home.
I have met many fathers who have told me that this story echoes their own, with issues like parental alienation, false allegations, and a whole bunch more thrown in. I have also come to the conclusion that mothers who take their children and hide them from their ex-partners, the child or children's father, do so from a false notion that they are protecting them. It appears that these women have a skewed view of the world borne of trauma in their own lives - often in their early childhood. I've thought, too, about the men who make relationships with such women. No big conclusions yet. But most people know about the meeting of eyes across a crowded room and boom, there is your soul mate just like you. I simplify but it's pretty well been my own experience and I've met many who agree.
Stay tuned for more nuggets of coal or gold in future.
